I'm trying my darndest to **not** to watch the movies until I've finished the trilogy. As for the Merry = buffoon angle, I likened it to the typical 'comedic' requirement most genre film makers seem to think is required. That said, in The Two Towers, Pippin certainly lives up to some of the comedic cliches.

I actually realized I may be almost three-quarters done Two Towers now; it's going fast!

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00727337086917574090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3008885425001805458.post-33426508354377858252013-10-29T06:57:07.700-07:002013-10-29T06:57:07.700-07:00I'm a long-time fan of the trilogy, and I have...I'm a long-time fan of the trilogy, and I have to agree with the omission of Tom Bombadil. It's not one of my favorite parts of the book. One thing in the film version FOTR that bothered me--and admittedly, this is minor--was that they made Lothlorien so blue, when in the book it's all green and gold. Also, I think they made Merry a bit more of a buffoon than he is in the book. Not deal breakers, by any means, but just things I noticed.Ruth Hull Chatlienhttp://ruthhullchatlienbooks.comnoreply@blogger.com
